Missouri
- a state rich in the arts. Here in the central part of the state, our
artists and artisans are truly exceptional. Some are those dedicated,
focused and often under-appreciated individuals striving to create
fine art for the sake of art itself. Some carry on
traditions from a day when the common folks had little access to
“art,” so they simply created it from what they
used in everyday life, from needle work, to wood and iron work, to
creating wonderful styles of local music.
At Wenwood Farm
Winery, we support the artists of mid-Missouri. We have fine artists
painting the beauty of the surrounding countryside; traditional
artisans working in glass or metal; creative souls who take the old and
make it new and lovely again; musicians of such high caliber that any
type of music imaginable is at our fingertips. We feature their works
in our gift shop, by having local musicians play on a weekly basis, by
hosting two open air art fairs every year (one spring and one fall),
and by using local artworks in our labeling and advertising. Please
help us to support them- invest in local art!
For information on our Art in the Garden open air art fairs, please see our Event Calendar.
LOCAL ARTIST LISTING
These artists exhibit and sell works in the Wenwood Gift Shop: Painters Renee Nilges: Renee is primarily an oil painter, but she also tries her hand at a variety of mediums. She enjoys nature scenes and landscapes (her works of Wenwood Farm are great!) and she also does captivating portraits. Original oils and prints are available at Wenwood, and she is the founder and a current exhibitor at our open air art fairs.
Cheryl Schaning: Cheryl paints beautiful floral and nature scenes, and as an added bonus, her canvas can be anything - from old pans to wooden table tops to our own Wenwood logo glasses. She creates one of a kind things of beauty. Originals available in the Wenwood gift shop and at the art fairs.
Fred Schollmeyer: Our local air brush master, Fred's works are ethereal still lifes that inspire a feeling of peace for any viewer. Limited edition prints of his Kirsch and Glasses painting are available Wenwood.
Ink Bill Mollendorp: "Portraits in Ink," but the portraits are the faces of the old buildings of Missouri. We have prints of his "Abandoned on Brick Church Road" and "Log Building on Brick Church Road" available at the winery.
Floral Art Judy Morris: Wenwood Farm is a Missouri Century Farm, and some of the stuff in our sheds has been here that long! Judy is a master at turning old junk into unique art - wreaths and centerpieces with vintage appeal. Also see her traditional works at her Owensville shop, Old World Creations.
Glass David Leach: Glass blowing is truly an ancient art form, and David is following in that fine tradition. Jewelry, ornaments and bottle toppers are available both in our shop and at the open air art fairs.
Metal Workers George Beamon: Exceptional copper works are available both in our gift shop and at our art fairs. Wine holders to fountains to creative hangings are all impressive.

Musicians These musicians have original music available on CD in the Wenwood gift shop, as well as playing live in our Event Pavilion. Many others play here, but do not yet offer CDs. See our Event Calendar for a detailed listing of music events.
Mick Byrd & Bonus Track: Mick is an American singer/songwriter classic and a member of the Missouri Arts Council. A little folk/rock, a bit of country and a dash of blues come together with the lyrics of a true storyteller, and audiences quiet from tableside chatter to listen with a far-away smile to a bit of nostalgia. Mick has six CDs available at Wenwood.
Val Goodrich: Another great American singer/songwriter, Val follows in the tradition of Melissa Etheridge and Indigo Girls, with rich vocals and sweet guitar. Val has one CD available at Wenwood.
Oatmeal for the Foxhounds: A great acoustic duo with earth-based guitar, vocals with an edge and two foot-powered tambourines for music "au naturel." Banastre and Dave are the best music party in town, and we offer a CD of their original music as well as a Banastre Tarleton Band CD.
Michele Van Hoose: Sultry blues, cool jazz and classic r&b - all play their part in Michele's wonderful songs. She has two CDs available at Wenwood, and plays here often - solo, as part of a variety of ensembles, or with The Family: her husband on guitar, daughter on drums and son on bass. A great family affair!
